Upgrading works on the five kilometre section of Kiuva Road in Nakelo, Tailevu, are now complete.

The work was delivered by Fulton Hogan Hiways (FHH) as part of the periodic road maintenance program to provide access to people in the Central, Northern and Eastern divisions.

The work included pre-drainage work, pre-shaping of the sub-grade, placing of crushed aggregate and final shaping and compaction.

Muanaira village headman, Mr Tevita Salasalavonu said he was grateful to Fulton Hogan Hiways for the road construction works, as road access was one main issue his people faced in the past.

Much attention was given to its drainage work so that water would run off the road surface to the drainage system alongside the road to avoid flooding.

Nine villages in the districts of Kiuva, Buretu and Nakelo depend on this road for access.
