The President of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Dr. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande arrived for his first official visit into the country this morning.
President Muhammad-Bande was welcomed by the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Hon. Mereseini Vuniwaqa at the Nadi International airport.
President Muhammad-Bande’s visit will focus on key priority areas such as Climate Change, Oceans, Youth and Women empowerment and the United Nations role in supporting member states achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in this decade.
He is also expected to pay a courtesy visit to His Excellency, the President of Fiji, Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote and meet with Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General Hon. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
