At 12am early this morning, Severe Tropical Cyclone Harold center (955HPa) was located near 14.6S 165.2E or about 160km west-northwest of Santo or about 480km northwest of Port Vila, Vanuatu. It is moving southeast at about 8 km/hr.
Expect maximum sustained winds of 90 knots close to the center and is expected to intensify further in the next 12 to 24 hours.
Vanuatu remains on Tropical Cyclone and Severe Weather Warning issued by Vanuatu Met.
On its track, Harold is still expected to track “just” to the southwest of the Fiji group by Wednesday next week.
For now, the associated trough of low pressure is bringing lots of clouds and showers over the country and is expected to increase to rain as TC Harold moves closer to the group next week.
