The damage sustained by different sectors during Tropical Cyclone Harold stands at around 100 million dollars.
This was confirmed by the Minister for Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu during a press conference this morning .
The Minister revealed the total cost of operation as the 30 days of State of Natural Disaster after Tropical Cyclone Harold ended yesterday.
Government has spent $6 million dollars in response to TC Harold.
3.6 million dollars was used in the first phase of assistance.
The minister confirms the high cost was mainly due to the hiring of private vessels.
Almost $2 million was used in the second wave of assistance.
He also highlighted his ministry’s act of response during Tropical Cyclone Harold.
The first wave took about 7-8 days with initial damage assessment reports.
The Minister highlighted most of their operations were delayed due to the weather conditions.
