The Republic of Fiji Military Forces selected personnel for the Multinational Force & Observers (MFO) mission was challenged by Ministry of Defense Senior Military Liaison Officer Major Mesake Daunitoko to raise their standard of discipline and their adherence to military ethos and values during the official opening of their six weeks pre-deployment training at Blackrock Peacekeeping School in Nadi.

During his opening address, Major Daunitoko gave an overview of the current situation in Sinai, the economic developments in the regions and the current arrangements with other contributing country within the Area of Operations.

He reminded the troops the importance of following the proper channel of communication in order to avoid misunderstanding along the chain of command. He also shared some of the challenges he faced and highlighted that if the troops are attentive during the training, then they should be well versed and equipped with military skills and knowledge to undertake the task given to them in the mission area.

Also in attendance was the Department of Peacekeeping Chief Staff Officer Admin Major Sakiasi Baka, Officer Commanding Blackrock Peacekeeping School Captain John Dugu and the Australian training officer attaché Captain Damien Tudehope.

Major Daunitoko was the Commanding Officer 2nd Fiji Infantry Regiment Batt 36 under MFO in Sinai, Egypt from 2017 – 2018.
