The theme – “Turning the Tide, De carbonizing the Pacific Transport”, is nothing new to me.

Minister for Agriculture Inia Seruiratu – made these comments, whilst officiating at the Pacific Island Transport Forum today.

Present at the forum was the special envoy from the Marshall islands, funding partners students and government delegates at the University of the South Pacific Laucala Bay Campus.

Speaking in his capacity as the High-Level Climate Champion at the official opening of the Pacific Island Transport Forum yesterday, Seruiratu says that the theme was something he was very passionate about.

Seruiratu says that this also is an opportunity to refocus on the key sector being the transport sector.

Like all development states, Fiji’s fight to reduce global emissions needs regional collaboration.

Seruiratu says that with Pacific Island Countries having recently taken a global leadership in addressing climate change impacts, this however cannot be undertaken by PICs alone and will require full commitment from each and every country.
