Attorney-General – Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum  officiated at the signing of Fiji’s Public-Private Partnership for the Ba and Lautoka Hospital in Suva yesterday.

The Government has signed a concession agreement with Healthcare Fiji Private Limited as part of Fiji’s Public-Private Partnership for the Ba and Lautoka Hospital.

“Engaging IFC for the services they’ve provided to ensure we’ve been able to achieve this milestone achievement. This will be an enormous benefit for ordinary Fijians in respect to providing them Tertiary Medical care facilities that we currently do not enjoy such as, you know cardiac surgery been available 24/7, radiotherapy that is currently not available. I understand its not available in any of the Pacific island country. So the enormous opportunities not just for Fijians but for our fellow Pacific islanders could use Fiji as a medical center to access services that will be provided by Aspen Medical”

Aspen Medical CEO -Bruce Armstrong says they look forward to bringing considerable Heath care experience to Fiji.

“We are particularly honored in this case to have been given the trust of the Government of Fiji to partner with FNPF, partner for the Provisional of Health services under a Public-Private Partnership arrangement. We look forward to bringing our considerable heath care experience to support the Government of Fiji’s strategic objectives to modernize and develop the Fijian Health system particularly in the areas of secondary and primary health care. National health capability development and capacity building will be the foundation of this partnership between ourselves and the Government of Fiji”

The Australian based -Aspen Medical has been awarded the contract and will work with the Fiji National Provident Fund over the next six months as major Investors to see the work that is needed to be done in the two Hospitals.
