The ten days walk against Non Communicable Diseases around Viti Levu came to an end yesterday with participants receiving certificates for their commitment.

More than 20 Fijians participated in this 475km walk.

Organiser of the event, the Fiji Mountaineering and Climbing Association says the event was an opportunity to raise awareness on NCD’S and collect funds for the Foundation for the Education of Needy Children.

Sangeet says 50 percent of the funds collected will go the the foundation and the other half will be invested in the preparation of the 2020 walk.

Sangeet believes the initiative will also help the government and the Ministry of Health save a huge about of money which can be invested in other sectors.
