The Vodafone Fiji U19 Womens’ team will leave our shores this Friday for build-up matches in New Zealand before going to the OFC U19 Women’s Championship in Cook Islands.
Coach Sunil Kumar said they would be in New Zealand for five days and would play build-up matches against Eastern Suburb AFC a Kiwi club.
“We are in our final phase of training here and will have five days in New Zealand before we go to Cook Islands that will give our girls more exposure, “said Kumar.
“The main idea of staying in New Zealand is for the girls to feel the international fever and get exposed playing with the experience club, “said Kumar
Kumar said the team was preparing well for the championship despite some difficulties.
“We are still working on the team combination because we did not had much time for the girls together due to school commitments and some of the players were with the senior team,”
“The girls are gelling in well and the atmosphere is coming in the camp, the team bonding is great and everyone is looking forward for the tournament, “said Kumar
The Ba school teacher said the experience of six players from the South Pacific Games was a boost.
“The six players who were part of the senior team have boosted the morale of team as they have been showing lot of experience and are guiding the new ones well,”
