Tropical Depression, TD04F has intensified further and developed into a category 1 tropical cyclone at 10am this morning. It has been named Tropical Cyclone Mona.

According to the Fiji Meteorological Services, a tropical cyclone alert remains in force for for Vanua levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups.

A strong wind warning remains in force for all fiji waters.

A heavy rain warning also remains in force for Vanua levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, the eastern half of Viti levu, and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups.

Tropical Cyclone Mona has formed to the north of Rotuma. Mona is moving south at about 20km/hr and may further intensify into a category 2 tropical cyclone in the next 24 to 36 hours.
