The Land Transport Authority and Fiji Bus Operators Association had a meeting last week discussing important issues concerning the Bus Industry.
Present in the meeting was the LTA CEO-Samuel Simpson, their senior management members and FBOA Executive Committee.
Areas of discussions was on policy, E-Transport, Omnibus Driver’s records, vandalism on buses among other things.
The Authority has recently circulated its draft code of conduct for conveyance of school children to all stakeholders for comment.
Simpson says a disturbing trend in bus vandalism was apparent and the Authority will work with Fiji Police to apprehend the culprits.
Simpson will attend a planned meeting with FBOA and Vodafone to discuss ways of enhancing the E-Transport system improving its effectiveness on providing customers with enhanced functionality.
LTA will also facilitate a meeting with FBOA and the Education Ministry to discuss the state of school transport in relation to the E-Transport system.
