Fiji Roads Authority has completed major roadworks in the Capital City which will improve traffic flow and safety.
The city street improvements include:

– Denison Road
– Ratu Cakobau Road
– Kimberly Street
– Raojibhai Patel Street
– Vishnu Deo
– Marlow Street
– Ellery Street

FRA General Manager Central Division Aram Goes says these projects have resulted in a high quality and durable road surface finish that makes the roads smoother to drive.

“Works included repairing footpaths, removing and replacing kerbs and channels, improve line marking and erecting proper standard signs,” Goes said.

He said the improved road will provide a more comfortable and safer journey to the motorists, with more visible signage and road markings.

“In conjunction with the new inner city traffic lane changes that are currently being prepared, our main aim is to remove the badly deformed surface which has deteriorated due to their age and the high stress of so many vehicles driving in and around the city.”

Other inner city streets planned for similar improvements includes Pratt Street, Selbourne Street, Malcolm Street, Joske Street, Murray Street and Forster Street.

Mr Goes said Suva City has some of the oldest roads and streets and has the highest population, making the city center deserving of this upgrading investment.

“The Suva City Council is pleased about the improved safety and smoother driving experience these important projects are bringing to the Capital City for both locals and visitors alike.”

This was part of FRA’s Accelerated Sealed Road repair programme that recently saw the completion of significant upgrades on Princes Road from Tacirua to the Fiji School of Medicine.

Future roads targeted for Accelerated Sealed Road repairs in 2018/19 include Khalsa Road, Mead Road at Princes Road junction, and Fletcher Road from Rifle Range to Karsanji Street.
