Subrails Furniture Ltd is a great example of a #Fijian business that has supported the ‘Fijian Made-Buy Fijian’ Campaign.
While at the opening of the 14th outlet of Subrails Furniture, the #Nausori Branch, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Tourism, Mr Shaheen Ali, spoke on how the business how grown over the years.
“We commend Subrails for exporting to the Pacific Island Countries and in order to support your efforts to promote your products in these markets, the #FijianGovernment will, in this financial year, appoint a Non-Resident Trade Commissioner to the Pacific Island Countries.
We will ensure this position acts as a leverage to regional and eventually global markets,” Mr Ali said.Subrails has diversified from manufacturing and retailing furniture to retailing electronic and household goods.
The company has provided employment to over 250 Fijians in their retail, manufacturing and processing centers.
Mr Ali said the ‘Fijian Made-Buy Fijian’ Campaign not only enables licensed businesses to promote their products in the domestic, regional and international markets, but also creates opportunities to increase revenue, create more jobs for locals and add to the socio-economic development of #Fiji.
“To further expand their service, they are looking into offsetting their carbon emissions, through the use of solar powered manufacturing,” he added.
Subrails started their business 20 years ago from just a furniture store in Lautoka that has now obtained the Fijian Made branding for seven products, which includes lounge suites, beddings, tables and chairs, wardrobes and mattresses.
