The National Disaster Management Office is advising villages close to Mount Washington on the island of Kadavu to restrict movement along the mount.

Reports on underwater explosions and continuous tremors make these areas more hazardous.

Villages including Nabukelevu I Ra, Lomati,Talaulia and the nearby villagers are advised to exercise caution.

NDMO is advising that people should stay away from all landslides that have occurred in the last few days including within the Mt Washington vicinity.

Continuous tremors or future eruption may make these areas more hazardous.

The public is advised to remain on alert and ensure that any slight damage to their houses etc should be monitored. These may present high risk if any future movement occurs.

In case of landslides, the public is advised to first contact the Mineral Resources Department on 338 1611 or the NDMO on 3319 250 before any steps are taken to clear the slip.
