Speeding is the most common traffic infringement recorded from January 1st to date.
In regards to statistics provided by the Fiji Police, spokesperson, Ana Naisoro indicated tat 51 thousand 884 drivers have been charged to date.
More than 5 thousand drivers have been charged for Careless Driving while more than 3 thousand have been charged for not wearing a seat-belt.
Naisoro adds that more than 1,000 drivers have been arrested for drink driving.
As the Festive season brings with it a lot of merry making and social gatherings, the Fiji Police Force anticipates in activities on our busy roads and as seen in the past safety is not always prioritized.
Naisoro adds they will continue to issue their plea for everyone to take road safety seriously, however it is ultimately up to every individual on whether they want to listen and comply and whether they value their lives and that of their loved ones and keep in mind that failure to take the advisories seriously could result in injury or the loss of lives.
