The Fiji Trades Union Congress is holding its Special Delegates Conference as follows Saturday 16th February 2019at the Tanoa International Hotel, Nadi.
The Special Delegates Conference is a constitutional requirement of the Congress where the National Council calls for a Special One Day Conference to deal with specific.
The Conference provides affiliates of the Congress to have an input on the work of the FTUC and to elect its Executives for the Youth Wing.
On the day of the Special Conference, an average of150 delegates, observers and invitees from Trade Union Affiliate Leaders will gather to review and make amendments to their constitution particularly, post the unification of FTUC and the former FICTU affiliates.
The media is invited to attend the Opening session at 1030.TheDirector,International Labour Organization [ILO]–Pacific Island Countries, Donglin Li will be the Guest Speaker.
At the opening, Professor Vijay Naidu of School of Governance Studies, USP, will deliver the keynote address on “Emerging Issues in Fiji’s Industrial Relations: How Unions Can Play An Impact Role”.
At 11am, a panel discussion on “Stakeholder Views on three keys issues affecting employment relations in Fiji: Challenges and the Way Forward”–the three key issues are:i) National Minimum Wage, ii)Individual Contracts and iii)the Right to Strike.
