Suva City will be transformed into a smart city by 2020.
Suva City Council newly appointed chairman of its board of special administration, Isikeli Tikoduadua says being a smart city means securing partnership with cities who have been successful in the reform and transforming in the way they deliver to their rate payers.
“Being a smart city is really to do with how you function as a city. One of the things that we believe we should do first is digitization and transformation of the way we store our information,” Tikoduadua said.
“I believe at the moment we don’t really have a structure that capture all the information that we would like to use for the kind of development we want for Suva,” he added.
He says that Suva’s growing activity will require them to address housing needs and parking space issues.
The newly appointed board of special administrators is mandated to deliver the aspirations of Suva as a community and is tasked with ‘waking’ up Suva city and restore civic pride to its citizens.
