The final of the 2020 Punjas Battle of the Giants (BOG) tournament is expected be to a cracker when the two southern rivals clash at Churchill Park in Lautoka this afternoon.
In BOG’s 42 years history, it is for the first time when the two Southern teams feature in the final on western soil.
Last time Rewa and Suva met in the final was in 2011 when the Delta Tigers defeated the Capital City Boys 4-3 in penalty kicks at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
It has been a 25-year drought for the Flow Valves/ Island Accommodation Suva side as they last won the title in 1995 beating Navua at the National Stadium in Suva.
The Delta One Automotive Repairs Rewa side last won the BOG title in 2017 when they defeated Nadi 2-1 in the final at Churchill Park.
The Marika Rodu-coached Rewa side will enter as the favorites after beating Ba 8-7 in a nail-biting first semifinal while Suva edged Nadi 2-1 in the second semifinal.
Ba and Nadi will fight for the third/fourth position at 12.30pm while the grand final is scheduled to kickoff at 3pm.
