About 300 Participants are expected to be part of the Sixth Pacific Regional Conference on Disability that begins next week in Nadi.

Pacific Disability Forum CEO – Setareki Macanawai shared about the main focus of the event and some of the challenges still faced by people living with Disability in the Region. The Forum will include sessions with women and youths living with disabilities.

One of the main objective of the Pacific Disability forum is to create actions for regional processes such as the accessibility blueprint and regional procurement study.

He says one of the main challenges still faced by people living with Disability is “Stigma” that becomes their identity on a daily basis. One of their major Projects they will work on for this year is on Inclusive Budgeting on how well funds are managed in their programs.

This years Theme is on: From Recognition to Realization of Rights: Furthering Effective Partnership for an Inclusive Pacific 2030 for Persons with Disabilities.

The Pacific Disability Forum is a regional non-governmental organization established in 2002 and has 21 member countries from across the Region.
