A man who was charged for two counts of ‘ giving false information’ and one count of ‘malicious act’ – appeared again at the Suva Magistrate court this morning.

Simione Sekonaia (Jnr) was accused of giving false information to a public officer, in relation to the COVID- 19 or the corona virus, last month.

The accused presented himself to medical authorities last week, gave false personal details, and claimed he had recently returned from abroad, and felt that he was experiencing symptoms of the virus.

Sekonaia is still in remand, as he had failed to present a second surety, before Magistrate – Deepika Prakash.

The matter has been adjourned until the 17th of this month.
