Minister for Agriculture Dr Mahendra Reddy says the focus will now shift to medium and large scale commercial farming.
The Agriculture Response Package for COVID-19 was implemented to ensure access to adequate food of acceptable quality and nutritional value is not affected during the COVID-19 pandemic.
33 thousand households have received seed packages as part of the Ministry of Agriculture COVID -19 response efforts.
The household seed distribution initiative will be suspended untill the end of September.
Seeds and planting materials will now be distributed to large scale commercial farmers.
Dr Reddy says the ministry expects households to retain planting material from the seeds distributed and continue backyard farming.
The Agriculture Minister commended the people of Fiji for their attitude towards food security and agriculture.
