The second Sugar cargo shipment for this year will leave the country in a few days time destined for main land China.
This comes after the first consignment for the year was shipped to Europe last week.
A sugar cargo ship is currently docked at the Lautoka wharf loading sugar before it heads to Malau in Labasa to load more sugar tomorrow before it leaves for China.
The first shipment of Sugar bound for the China has been loading at the Lautoka wharf since last night. An exciting venture for Fiji Sugar Corporation in re establishing links with the Chinese market.
The ship is expected to take a volume of a little under 34 thousand tonnes when it leaves the country. 22 thousand tonnes from Labasa and the balance from Lautoka. Clarke adds FSC prefers shipping sugar consignments to Asia because its a lot more closer to Fiji.
FSC will be sending a total of five shipment of sugar all together from the 2018 season, the next shipment will be heading to America while the last two shipment are awaiting confirmation for final destination.
With a full load from both the Lautoka and the Labasa terminal, the cargo ship will embark on a two week journey to China.
