Mariners are advised to take heed of weather warnings, and to plan their trip well with sufficient fuel, when traveling to sea.

Three seafarers can count their lucky stars after being rescued by RFNS ‘Kikau’, in the early hours of this morning.

They were on their way to Kadavu from Suva – and ran out of fuel and drifted towards the reefs at Beqa.

The Fiji Police command center received a distress call from the punt, after the information was passed on to the Fiji Navy.

RFNS ‘Kikau’ was tasked at around 2345h last night, and managed to find the distressed sailors at 1 o’clock this morning.
