While members of the public looks forward to the Diwali celebrations, the Fiji Police Force is once again reiterating on the importance of safety tonight.
Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says Diwali is an annual celebration that Fijians look forward to, in lighting firecrackers, visiting homes and sharing the significance of the day- and is urging members of the public to be vigilant when celebrating tonight’s festival of lights.
Naisoro says there had been incidents in the past, involving fire or injuries caused from lighting of fireworks and strongly urges members of the public to keep a close watch of their family and visitors tonight.
She adds that extra manpower from the Force will be out today and tomorrow to monitor public places and spots around the country.
