The man regarded by many as the world’s best jockey will partner Aidan O’Brien stayer The Cliffsofmoher in the 2018 Melbourne Cup.

Champion jockey Ryan Moore, who won the 2014 Melbourne Cup on Protectionist and the 2014 Cox Plate on Adelaide, will get a chance to win his second Melbourne Cup when he rides The Cliffsofmoher which is rated a $17 chance on Sportsbet.

Moore has previously ridden The Cliffsofmoher on six occasions including when second in the English Derby last year.

The Cliffsofmoher produced an eye-catching Melbourne Cup trial when third in the Caulfield Cup when ridden by Hugh Bowman. But the galloper may be Irishman O’Brien’s third seed in the 2018 Melbourne Cup.

O’Brien – who is searching for his first Melbourne Cup win after son Joseph won with Rekindling in 2017 – also trains the $4.50 favourite Yucatan as well as the $17 hope Rostropovich.

Moore rode Rostropovich into fifth in the Cox Plate behind Winx but the jockey cannot make 51kg for Rostropovich in next Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup.
