Nineteen rural women designers participated at the Fiji Rural Women’s Fashion Show as part of 2019 National Women’s Expo held at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva yesterday.
Officiated by Mary Bainimarama, the event saw rural women showcase array of designs from bula dresses, traditional wedding attires to handmade bags among others.
These designers went through capacity building training last month to prepare for the show.
“We women are each other’s ultimate support system and you should never forget that. When women help women, the entire world stands to benefit as we are the agents of change amongst families, communities and culture.”
She added the government is committed to women empowerment, building success and creating better livelihoods.
Around 200 training has been facilitated and over 1500 women have benefited from these programs.
