Suliano Rokosuka has been arrested and is back in police custody.
Chief Operations Officer, ACP Maretino Qiolevy confirmed that Rokosuka was arrested by officers of the special task-force at Wailea Settlement last night and is now in custody at the Nabua Police Station.
Also arrested were a man and woman for allegedly harboring Rokosuka and both are also being questioned at the Nabua Police Station.
The search continues for the other four escapees and the task-force continues to work around the clock to ensure all are arrested.
The Internal Affairs Unit has been directed to expedite a preliminary investigation, into the escape of five remanded prisoners – Emosi Baledrokadroka, Niko Talemaitoga, Maika Tovagone and Jonacani Qalova, from police custody on Tuesday.
The five are facing charges for their alleged involvement in separate aggravated robberies, and are considered to be high risk.
Police Commissioner – Sitiveni Qiliho says, the investigation will look into the conduct and operations of the 25 police officers, who were tasked with all aspects of the escorting duties of the five escapees.
Qiliho has labelled the incident as unacceptable, and will be taking disciplinary action against the officers, who failed to conduct their duties.
