Navatudua women’s group of Raviravi village, Macauta received $20,000 to boost their local Mabe pearl project.

While officiating at the handover this morning, Prime Minister Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama commended the women for their resilience, creativity and ambition to improve the livelihoods of their families.

“To these businesswomen, and you can wear that title proudly because you’ve earned it – you are part of the key drivers of this growing industry.”

“The pearl oyster shells that you’ve carefully grown, and the Mabe that you’ve carefully cultivated, have been crafted into beautiful tokens that represent the untapped potential of Fiji.”

Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama also handed out cheques to 10 nursery owners that have taken advantage of the new tree planting projects that uplifts both the economy and the ecosystem.

These projects aim to serve the dual purpose of restoring the ecosystem while giving #Fijians the resources they need for planting trees and mangroves.
