Over the last two decades, rivers have been under threat due to climate change.
Dr. Mahendra Reddy the Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development & Waterways and Environment, in saying this ,Commissioned the Nadaro River Bank Protection Project today.
“Riverbank erosion is becoming prevalent in Fiji, threatening communities living along the river systems, “Minister Reddy said.
Reddy said that gabion boxes would be installed to retain walls and groynes.
The 112m long river bank protection works will be constructed by Hot Spring Hire Service at a cost of $FJD431, 333.17
