The road to success is not easy but with hard-work and determination you will be able to achieve your goal. These are the comments of 26-year-old Arieta Ratusau who recently enrolled in the Trade Diploma in Customs programme at the Fiji National University (FNU).
Ratusau said she always dreamt of becoming a customs officer however, her plans took a turn after her mother was injured in an accident.
“This was few years back when I had left high school and was about to start tertiary studies. With the tragic incident that occurred in my life, I had to forego my studies and take care of my mother,” Ratusau said.
The former Vunimono High School student did not give-up on her tertiary education dreams.
“I have this purpose in life where I want to become somebody. I wanted to fulfill my dreams and with this thought I always wanted to enrol at Fiji National University,” she added.
“I am glad I will be able to start my studies. It has been a huge 10-year gap since I last entered a classroom environment but I know I will be able to do it.”
Ratusau aspires to become a customs officer after successfully completing the programme.
“I have always admired the work done by Customs Officers and I hope to become one after graduating from FNU,” she said.
Ratusau hopes her perseverance will convince other matured students to pursue their educational goals.
“It’s never too late to start but rather more importantly to start the journey,” said the new student.
