Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama extends his best wishes to every Fijian celebrating the Holy Month of Ramadan.
In a statement posted on his facebook page, Prime Minister Bainimarama also expressed his gratitude to all the families who are respecting government’s public health directives through this period of prayer and reflection.
“I’d like to pass a special ‘thank you’ to the Muslim members of our Fijian family who rank among our healthcare heroes serving in our hospitals, fever clinics and mobile medical teams. Your valiant efforts –– alongside your colleagues is helping win Fiji’s war against the coronavirus. In doing so, you showcase the very best of the Fijian spirit.
“While Fijians who observe this holy month continue to fast from the early hours of the morning until sunset, this year’s Ramadan has certainly been different. But through these times, we can take comfort knowing that no matter where we pray, the power of prayer, for peace, for love and for kindness is undiminished. In fact, living out these values matters for all people, of all faiths, more than ever before.
“So, even while our mosques and other houses of worship may be closed for the time being, we can still draw incredible strength from the message of love, discipline and sacrifice honoured by the Ramadan tradition. I ask that every Fijian use this month as an opportunity to reflect on how each of us can serve our nation and our fellow Fijians by helping pave the path to brighter days ahead,” Bainimarama said.
