Seruiratu also visited farmers on Rabi island, encouraging them to practice communal farming to realize its benefits.
Seruiratu visited agricultural developments and projects on the Island, and met with farmers earlier this week.
He thanked the farmers for their great contribution to agriculture development, particularly on the island.
Seruiratu was impressed with the farmers initiative to form their Farmers’ Association – which he says will tie in well with the overall plan the ministry has.
He also mentioned that the United Nations General Assembly has declared 2019-2028 – as the “Decade of Family Farming”, which is one of the reasons for the Ministry of Agriculture’s drive towards developing communal farming.
Seruiratu also applauded the women of Rabi for utilizing commodities available on the island, and tapping into its potential.
