Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources – Josefa Caniogo opened the Fiji Land Bank Landowners Trustees Workshop in Korolevu this morning and urged more indigenous landowners to take advantage of the benefits presented.

“We have secured and designated 107 parcels of idle and unutilised native land compromising a total area of 10,529.8945 hectares,” he said.

“We have collated a total revenue of $9,418,216.80 for our leases to date. We have completed the survey of 78 parcels of customary land and issued 64 leases.”

Some 30 representatives of landowning unites attended the workshop, with bio data profile handbooks for designated land leases also distributed.

Caniogo said this was to enhance transparency and encourage landowner participation.

All bio data profile handbooks included shared information on all processes and procedures for designated customary land parcels.
