The President, Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote led a community outreach program to champion the fight against non-communicable diseases and to promote tree-planting and backyard gardening in Nadarivatu and Nadrau.
Joined by staff members of the State House, trees were planted at the Nadraivatu District Office, Nadrau Village, Nadrau Nursing Station and Nadrau Primary School, which sit atop the country’s highest plateau.
“We also commemorate Early Childhood Education Week, and kids are the future leaders of Fiji,”he said
Gardening tool kits were handed over to Nadrau village and the Nadrau Primary School management, to assist their efforts in maintaining the school’s vegetable plantation.
Konrote is the champion for the country’s 4 Million Trees in 4 Years initiative, to protect Fiji’s rich biodiversity and reforestation.
