The President, Jioji Konrote and the First Lady Sarote Konrote on their second day of visit on the island of Rotuma were happy to have the noble duty of visiting senior citizens on the island.

The president says he and his wife was planing the visit to the senior citizens of Rotuma as Government is serious about taking care of our elderly citizens through its various social reforms.

He says he felt that he is obliged to visit the senior citizens of Rotuma since he’s been away from his home island for years because of his busy schedule as the President of the Republic of Fiji.

Konrote adds although the main aim of his tour is to continue advocating the planting of 4 million trees in 4 years which he launched last month, it is also a good opportunity to visit the senior citizens on the island.

President Konrote accompanied by the First Lady visited several senior citizens on Rotuma one of whom was 79 year old Susana Makrava.
