His Excellency, the President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote attended the 61st Birthday of His Majesty The Emperor of Japan with Cabinet Ministers, Speaker of Parliament, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau and Members of the Diplomatic Corps.
Chief of Protocol, Jiko Rasoqosoqo on behalf of President Konrote addressed the guests and conveyed the best wishes of the Fijian Government and all Fijians to His Imperial Majesty the Emperor, the Japanese Government and the people of Japan on this occasion.
“Fiji and Japan enjoy a warm and excellent relationship developed over the years through enhanced partnership and cooperation in the areas of Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change and Environment, People-to-People exchanges, Fisheries and Economic and Development Cooperation,” he highlighted.
“Today, Japan remains one of Fiji’s indispensable and strategic partners, contributing to all areas of cooperation.”
The Ambassador of Japan to Fiji His Excellency Kawakami Fumihiro said both countries have fostered close friendship and have become significant partners at the regional and international levels.
“I would like to take this opportunity to convey my heartfelt congratulations to the Government and people of Fiji for its 50th independence anniversary as well as the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Fiji which was celebrated last year, “he said.
“2021 marks the beginning of the next 50 years of Japan-Fiji relations and as the Ambassador to Fiji, I will do my utmost best to further deepen the friendship between our countries.”
