Random checks conducted at two separate roadblocks resulted in the seizure of drugs this past week.

The first arrest was made at the Laqere Roadblock on Wednesday after 1pm whereby a vehicle driven by 27year old taxi driver of Sakoca with two passengers in their 20s from Caubati was stopped and searched by officers manning the site.

The officers discovered plastics containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana, smoking apparatus and more than $1,000 cash.

Also discovered was the original number plate of the vehicle driven by the first accused with an expired wheel tax sticker.

All three were taken into custody as investigations continue.

The second arrest was made at the Wainadoi roadblock where dried leaves believed to be marijuana was seized yesterday.

Also discovered was cash and several mobile phones.

The suspect in his 20s is in custody as investigations continue.

We request members of the public to be patient with our officers who will be erecting roadblocks throughout the day as this is part of the ongoing operations in tracking down on illegal activities.
