The Minister for Defence, National Security and Policing Inia Seruiratu officiated the Northern Division Medal Award and Basic Recruits Training Graduation Parade in Labasa where he reminded officers serving the friendly North the importance of their role in Government’s efforts in building investor confidence during the difficult economic situation in light of the global COVID-19 situation.
Sixteen officers were awarded the Fiji Police Long Service Medal and Overseas Service Medals while twenty-two Police officers who recently completed the Basic Recruits Course Training also received their Graduation Certificates during the Parade held at Subrail Park.
On hand to witness the significant occasion were the officer’s families, senior Government officials, representatives of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Fiji Corrections Services and retired officers.
The Honourable Minister while acknowledging Policing efforts also called on the officers to dedicate their achievements to their families and loved ones.
“They have throughout your policing careers been your silent supporters and havehad to put up with a lot”.
“At times they have found themselves relocating and setting up home in a new location – while your children have to make new friends as they change schools and adapt to a new learning environment – and it is therefore only appropriate that they share the spotlight on your achievements today”
