The Prime Minister – Voreqe Bainimarama, took time out of his busy schedule to visit the Korosomo Slip, in the Northern division yesterday.
Bainimarama was briefed by the Fiji Roads Authority, on the work that is underway at the site.
The Prime Minister also visited the Korosomo slip site, along with the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport – Jone Usamate, and the Minister for Disaster Management – Inia Seruiratu.
Works are well underway on an alternative route, which risk assessments from the Mineral Resources Department, have determined will boost the climate resilience of this vital northern connection.
There is an alternative road which has been constructed, but it only allows for vehicles that are below 10-tonnes.
The Fiji Roads Authority is expected to complete the new road in the next 3 months.
