Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama took to Nasese foreshore yesterday to partake in the Government’s 4 Million Trees in 4 Years’ programme.

Bainimarama alongside over 170 officers from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces planted close to 6,000 mangrove seedlings.

This participation was also to pay tribute to Corporal Sefanaia Sukanaivalu by celebrating Infantry Day on the 23rd of June.

Corporal Sefanaia Sukanaivalu was a member of the 3rd Battalion who was killed in action in the Solomon Islands during World War II.

He was awarded the Victoria Cross.

The RFMF officers yesterday cleaned up the Samabula Senior Citizen’s Home and they dropped off some gifts at the Home of Compassion.

The Ministry of Forestry aims to plant 30 million trees within the next 15 years.
