Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama opened the newest Legal Aid Commission office in Keiyasi, Navosa this afternoon, in a further expansion of access to justice for all Fijians.
Families that earn less than $15,000 dollars a year can obtain free legal representation in family and criminal matters, and even in some civil matters as well.
A lawyer is available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays alongside a full-time Client Information Officer and Registry Officer to provide first-line legal assistance.
The new office is a welcome provision for thousands of highland residents in Navosa and Nadroga who will no longer have to travel to Sigatoka for Legal Aid services.
