Prime Minister Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama attended the 231st Anniversary of Bastille Day – the National Day of France with Cabinet Ministers and Members of Parliament, members of the diplomatic corps and guests at the Thurston Garden in Suva.
Fiji and France share an excellent and longstanding relationship since the establishment of its diplomatic relationship in 1970 and Fiji has benefited enormously from France over the years in the areas of climate change, defence, and sports.
The timely assistance from the Government of France towards Fiji’s rehabilitation and recovery efforts following the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Harold and the COVID-19 pandemic is a testament to this enduring friendship.
Today, France remains one of Fiji’s most important strategic partner, contributing much to all areas of cooperation which is assured not only continue but strengthen in the many years to come.
