Investment Fiji CEO, Craig Strong and Board Chair Jenny Seeto virtually connected with the Fiji Embassy to the USA and met with Ambassador-designate, H.E. Amena Yauvoli.
Discussions with Fiji’s Trade Commissioner North America, Mr Praneet Singh and first secretary, Mr Akuila Vuira focused on the USA market situation and how Fiji can leverage its brand value for niche products.
Mr Singh highlighted on key sectors that Fiji could tap into such as ICT and BPO, fast moving consumer goods, mineral water, health care dietary and online platforms.
“A marketing strategy for Fijian exporters and businesses can be explored in areas such as return investments, value-proposition and export of local organic products such as Kava, organic juice, fresh and frozen or tinned products such as spices and agricultural produce.”
Mr Singh said he is also in consultation with Amazon on sale of Fijian products online.
Ambassador-designate, H.E. Amena Yauvoli said he is confident and keen to boost trade between Fiji and US and to work in collaboration with Investment Fiji.
Mr Strong said there is potential in the manufacturing sector to target small-scale niche products suited for the US market.
“We will have a deeper dialogue with the Trade Commissioner on positioning Fiji on sector-based markets. We are keen to work further on fast moving consumer goods and connect relevant producers and exporters and facilitate such initiatives.”
Board Chair, Ms Seeto reaffirmed Investment Fiji’s commitment on working in collaboration with its Trade offices and Embassies and drawing on a marketing plan for US to get the right product or service and set a direction.
