The planned water shutdown at the Waila Water Treatment Plant by the Water Authority of Fiji has been postponed to next weekend due to unfavorable weather conditions.

WAF General Manager Customer Services and Acting General Manager Operations,Sekove Uluinayau said that it was imperative for the Authority to postpone the commissioning works.

He adds they had to reschedule the works because of the weather reports on Tropical Cyclone Mona.

The new dates for the Waila Water Shutdown is now from 6AM Sunday morning to 6AM Monday morning , weather permitting.

Members of the public will now have more time to store sufficient amounts of water for their needs.

Uluinayau advices members of the public living in flood prone areas to boil all drinking water as flood waters may enter the water systems and please take heed of warnings and alerts by the Authority.

Members of the public are also requested to store sufficient amounts of water for back-up supply as water supply may be interrupted during the cyclone.
