Pacific Disability Forum – CEO-Setareki Macanawai says, Persons with intellectual disabilities like other persons with disabilities often face stigmatization and social exclusion.
He says for far too long they were kept away from mainstream society, and still today, it is estimated that more than a million adults and children with disabilities live in the Pacific, and are often denied their basic human rights.
A 2 day workshop for “Persons with Intellectual disabilities”, will be begin today at the Tanoa Plaza Hotel.
The overarching requirement of the Sustainable Development Goals is “Leave No One Behind” moves this goal forward for people with intellectual disabilities in the Pacific region.
