Leaving his island home of Rotuma for the very first time was never an easy thing for 23 year-old Emmanuel Pene. He was among 200 Intern Nurses who were part of the Induction and Orientation Program held at Studio 6 in Suva Today.
It was always a Dream for Rotuman Lad- Emmanuel Pene to become a Nurse. The second youngest of four siblings, Pene is grateful for the support of his family and friends especially leaving home for the very first time to study in Labasa for 2 years.
He says it was all a new experience to leave home and come to Vanualevu for the very first time, adapting to the new campus Lifestyle and making new friends at first was a challenge. He hopes his posting will allow him to get the much needed experience and hopefully head back to his island home of Rotuma to serve his people.
He thanked God and his hardworking parents for putting him through Nursing school.
Speaking at the event-Minister for Health-Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete told the new Interns that the Quality of their work will mean Life or Death for their Patients once they go into the field and the internship will show the caliber of a person they are and it will be the beginning of a huge mountain to climb.
The Intern Nurses will await their Posting to either the CWM, Lautoka or the Labasa Hospital. They will serve a 1 year and 3 months Internship.
