External exam results will be out in a few days and Lifeline Fiji is urging parents to support the results of their children.

Suicide is one of the principal causes of death among students.

Lifeline is a non- profit organization providing all Fijians experiencing a personal crisis with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services.

There have been cases in the country where students attempt or commit suicide after being disappointed with their results.

Students are urged to accept the outcomes, reflect and seek help instead of causing self-harm.

Lifeline Fiji is reminding parents and guardians to spend quality time with their children and go over issues regarding the outcomes of external examinations.

Lifeline Fiji Office in Charge Jeremaia Merekula adds youth suicidal behaviour is one urgent challenge and needs the attention and support of loved ones to avoid loss of life.

Students and others, contemplating suicide can seek help by calling Lifeline Fiji’s 24 hours toll-free line on 132454.
