Members of the Opposition party have walked out of parliament this morning – after SODELPA MP – Viliame Gavoka’s petition for the mining by a company at the mouth of the Sigatoka River, was not accepted by the Speaker of Parliament Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.

Gavoka says the Speaker’s ruling is unacceptable, and they are raising an issue of great importance, to the people of Sigatoka.

He says 900 people have signed the petition and they are asking for a committee to look into this matter.
