The New Perminent Secretary for Fisheries Craig Strong says it’s very humbling to be chosen to take up the position in a Ministry that has quite a long legacy.
Strong was speaking from Udu village in Totoya last week while touring parts of the Lau group with the Minister of Fisheries Semi Koroilavesau.
Strong says that taking up his new post has given him the opportunity to be a part of strong visions by Government and the Minister.
“One of the things that we have been keen to do on my first week and a half is to make sure that I visit our teams and all our stations in Viti Levu, stakeholders and customers to get a true understanding of where we are at.”
Strong says having visited all of the fisheries stations in Viti Levu and getting the opportunit to partso f the Lau group with his Minister, Strong says he has big ambitions for the job.
“We have some very good people in our ministry and I think the ambition that I have coming into a new ministry is that we can really diffrentiate ourselves from other organizations, we deliver very good service, we are a service delivery organization. I dont come from the civil service, I’m not a beaurocrat I’m a private sector person and we are service delivery organization so there a goos fit there, here to do the work that I have been brought here to do.”
