The Oceania Athletics Association has a new president.
Northern Marianas Athletics official Robin Sapong has been elected the new president of the Oceania Athletics Association.
Sapong, who is NMA’s secretary general was elected area president of the region following a Special Congress attended by Oceania Athletics Association member federations yesterday at their headquarters in Gold Coast, Australia.
Sapong replaced Norfolk Islands Geoff Garder, who served as Oceania Athletics Association head for 13 years.
With his election as area president, Sapong will also have a seat at the World Athletics Council, bringing O-A-A’s representative to the group, to three.
Sapong will oversee O-A-A’s affairs until 2023 and vows to work with the region’s local federations, partners and supporters in strengthening the sport’s program.
